Summer Reading Challenge continues

Our Friday morning events are done for this year, but the reading challenge continues! We still challenge every student to read at least a book a day!

And in addition to our Tuesday and Wednesday morning Pre-K Story Times, we also have a book discussion group on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 for 3rd and 4th grade girls who would like to come to discuss one of the books in the following series:

  • 7/30: Ranger in Time by Kate Messner
  • 8/6: Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park
  • 8/13: Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park
  • 8/20: Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne.
  • 8/27: Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne.

Summer Reading Challenge

The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program is Space: A Universe of Stories. Each Friday in July we’ll meet at 10:00 AM to read some books and have some special crafts. On July 19th, we’ll have a special performance by Lisa & Klaus Meissner about 10:30.

We challenge each student to read at least a book a day because we know you can do it! Keep track of the titles that you read on the reading log that you can get from the library. When you turn in a log sheet, we’ll put a ticket in the bucket for each sheet. When students go back to school in September, your teachers will pull a ticket from each bucket. So the more tickets you have in the bucket, the better your chances are of willing an Amazon HD 8 Tablet!

We have lots of lists of suggested books to read, and you can also get some titles from our special display in Erin’s Corner.
