Summer Reading Program

Our Summer Reading Program continues until school starts in September! I challenge every student to read a book every day! (It doesn’t have to be a long book like Harry Potter.) I know you can do it, and I’ll give lots of prizes and rewards!

Solar Eclipse: August 21, 2017

On Monday, August 21, 2017, a partial eclipse of the Sun will be visible in upstate New York for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The eclipse will begin in our neck of the woods at around 1:20 PM, reach it’s maximum at 2:45 PM, and end at around 4:00 PM. The next time this will occur will be on April 8, 2024. While it is a total solar eclipse in some places, the sun will be a little over 70% covered in our area.

So what does this mean for you? Well, thanks to the folks at NASA, the Space Science Institute, the National Center for Interactive Learning, the National Science Foundation, the Lunar and Planetary Institute, the Science Education Partnership Award, the American Library Association, and the Afterschool Alliance, we have some fun stuff for your library.

At our library we have information, safety instructions, and special eclipse glasses (you should never look directly at the sun without specific eyewear).

Check out some more resources here.
