Downtown revitalization talk: April 25th

 

The Adirondack Main Streets Program and Integrated Tupper Lake Case Study – Clarkson University’s Adirondack Semester students, in partnership with the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA), have developed a Main Streets Program to encourage sustainable rural economic growth, particularly for lower-income residents of the Park. Downtown revitalization is a critical component in addressing rural economic development and sustainability in the Adirondack Park. This semester’s students have focused on the creation of the major components of an Adirondack Main Streets Program with an associated supplemental case study designed to complement Tupper Lake’s current Revitalization Strategy. This program focuses on entrepreneurship, clean energy, beautification, low-income economic opportunities, local food access, amenities, land-use strategies, and other improvements. Join us on April 25th at 6:30 in our Community Room.

From Cart to Kitchen: How to eat yourself to better health

 

On April 12th, there will be a Nutritional Health discussion from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in our Community Room. From Cart to Kitchen: How to eat yourself to better health. Adirondack Medical Center’s Nutritional Department will provide you with the tips and tricks you need to shop smarter, cook cleaner and eat healthier! Adirondack Health offers monthly community outreach events in Keene, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake. With new health topics every month, learn how you can improve your health and the health of your community, and see what Adirondack Health has to offer! This event is free and open to the public.

Basic Genealogy class

A basic genealogy class will be held in the library’s Community Room starting on April 6th. This is an introduction to techniques, organization and tools for doing genealogical research, including the use of Ancestry.com and the Internet. The course will be offered in three two-hour sessions on April 6, 13, and 20 from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. under the auspices of the Franklin County Historical and Museum Society. The instructor is Carol P. Poole. The class is limited to 10 people; please register in person at the library, by calling the library at 359-9421 or by email to goffnelson@gmail.com.
