Summer Reading Program starts Monday!

Registration for our Summer Reading Program starts on Monday, June 30, at 10:00. Get forms for ALL kids to encourage them to read this summer! The theme is: Fizz, Boom, Read! We’ll have face painting, books, magic, books, prizes, and books to encourage you to READ! Two students will win an iPad in September: the top K-2 student and the top 3-6 student. We’ll also have prizes for the top readers in grades 7-12. Check out our online catalog at: If we don’t have the book you want, we’ll get it through inter library loan!

This Summer’s Art Show is cancelled

Due to the lack of volunteers and financial constraints, the Library Board has regretfully cancelled the Tupper Lake Art Show for this summer. If you would like to volunteer to be in charge of the Art Show in the future, please call the library or stop in for more information (518-359-9421).

You may be interested in attending the Adirondack Artist Art Show at the Beth Joseph Synagogue, 57 Lake Street in Tupper Lake. The show is free and will be open to the public from July  1 through August 29th, from 11:00 – 3:00.

It’s almost time for our Summer Reading Program! Readers of all ages will explore all kinds of fun and crazy science topics this summer as the Goff-Nelson Memorial Library presents “Fizz, Boom, Read!” during their summer library program. Activities may include science experiments, crafts, Grossology fun, nature explorations, and more.

The 2014 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, a reading challenge, and more. Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program. Registration begins at the library at on June 30th at 10:00 a.m. Join us on Friday mornings at 10:30 (July 11, 18, 25, Aug 1). Discount card to the Adirondack Museum!

Did you know? You can get a 50% discount on family admissions to the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake! Come to the library to check out the discount card as you would any book. Then present your library card with the discount card at the Museum to receive a 50% discount on family admissions (up to 4 adults or 2 adults & children 17 and under; children under 5 are free). The discount card is good from May 23-October 13, 2014. Museum hours: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. No reserves, holds, or renewals. Ask the staff at the desk to check out the discount card.

Passes to The Wild Center

You can get a discounted pass to The Wild Center at your library. You can check out a pass with your library card just like you check out a book. The pass includes discounted admission, and you can check out a pass for 3 days. The pass is due back at the library by closing time 3 days from checkout. No reserves, holds, or renewals. Ask the staff at the desk to check out the pass.
