“Print, Prose and Recycle” Creative Aging Workshop

We’ve already had several sessions of the “Print, Prose and Recycle” Creative Aging Workshop. Participants have created some beautiful hand prints from recycled materials. There’s still room if you’d like to join us!

Library Budget Approved!

We had a record-breaking turnout for our budget vote yesterday, and the budget was approved! Thanks so much to all our library supporters!

Today is our first meeting of theFriends of the Library” at 6:30 p.m. We’re forming this group to have fun and work on projects to benefit the community and the library. All library advocates are invited to come to help us brainstorm; we’ll be meeting in the Simmons Memorial Room.

Mark your calendars!

We have several events planned at our library:
Tuesday, May 14th is the annual library budget vote in the library from 1:00-8:00 p.m. In response to requests from our community for evening hours and Saturday hours, the Library Board approved the hiring of two new staff members. We are now open from 9:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. year ‘round (Monday – Thursday), and 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Fridays. And we are now open on Saturdays from 10:00-2:00. Because we’ve hired additional staff to cover these additional hours, we are proposing a 1% increase in our operating budget. Please come out to vote!
On Wednesday, May 15th we are having our first meeting of theFriends of the Library” at 6:30 p.m. We’re forming this group to have fun and work on projects to benefit the community and the library. All library advocates are invited to come to help us brainstorm; we’ll be meeting in the Simmons Memorial Room.
On May 16th we’re starting a FREE workshop, “Print, Prose and Recycle” as part of a grant for Creative Aging in New York State Libraries. The 8-week workshop will take place on Thursday mornings (May 16 – July 11, 2013) from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room (lower level) of the library. This workshop is open to anyone who is 55 or older, and is designed to encourage participants to combine social interaction, art, prose, recycled materials, and life experiences.
