Creative Aging Workshop!

We are very pleased to offer a FREE workshop, “Print, Prose and Recycle” as part of a grant for Creative Aging in New York State Libraries.

This workshop is open to anyone who is 55 or older, and is designed to encourage participants to combine social interaction, art, prose, recycled materials, and life experiences. Participants will make an art book from handprints they create from recycled and found materials using an Eastern, non-toxic, abstract printmaking technique paired with short descriptive prose vignettes based on their everyday lives. The emphasis is on social interaction, and having fun!

The 8-week workshop will take place on Thursday mornings (May 16 – July 11, 2013) from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room (lower level) of the library. The Teaching Artist is Nadia Korths (http://nadiakorths.com/). The workshop will have a culminating reception on July 11, for which participants can invite family and friends to share one of their writings and discuss the themes that emerged in both the prints and the writings.

The workshop is free to participants because of a grant from Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Contact Peg Mauer, Librarian to register.
