Class on Downloading eBooks

On April 11th at 11:00 a.m. we’re having a presentation on how to download free ebooks from the library to your e-reader, computer or mobile device. From 11-12, Betsy Brooks and Chad Chase from the Clinton Essex Franklin Library System will demonstrate the process, after which they will provide individual help to those attending. You may sign up after the class for a 15 minute time slot with one of the presenters.  When you register, please indicate if you will be bringing an e-reader (optional, but encouraged), and please tell us what kind (Kindle model, Nook model, iPad, etc.).  Feel free to bring a laptop if you own one, but that is also optional. If you have an existing account with Amazon or Barnes and Noble, bring your login information. Space is limited. See Peg to register.

Career Shadow Day

Friday, March 22 was Career Shadow Day. This program gives high school students an opportunity to shadow someone in their community, so the student gets an idea of what jobs are like in the working world. This year Ethan Boyer, an 11th grader at Tupper Lake Central School, spent the day at our public library. It’s a great program, and I enjoyed spending the day with Ethan!

More storytimes!

We have added several more storytimes to our Events page, and we’re adding more events all the time. Check out the dates and add them to your calendar! We’re trying different times to see what is the most convenient for you. So be sure to let us know!

Check out our Index!

Have you checked out our Index? You might be surprised at the links to information that you find there — from the “100 Best Books for Children” to the list of “Caldecott Medal Winners” to the list of free Databases that you can access to the “Library Value Calculator” to the list of online “Newspapers” to old photos of Tupper Lake (“Tupper Lake – Digital History Project”) — we’ve tried to create links to information that our patrons ask for the most.

Do you have a suggestion for a link that we should add? Just let me know at pmauer2004 @ yahoo.com.
