Dr. Seuss’ Birthday party!

Dr. Seuss is having a birthday this Saturday, March 2, and you’re invited to the party at the library! Come to the Goff-Nelson Memorial Library at 11:00 a.m. for games, a birthday snack, and Dr. Seuss stories, of course! Dr. Seuss wore many “hats” in his lifetime. Bring an adult and wear your favorite hat to the party!

About 200 people came to Dr. Seuss’ birthday party, and we had a great time! Many thanks to Rebecca Buerkett, Carol Fuller, and Dorie and Joy for their help! We gave out at least 7 new library cards, and made some new friends! And thanks to Mattoon’s Bakery for the mini-cupcakes! See the photos here.

New title featuring local servicewoman

We now have a copy of “Undaunted: The Real Story of America’s Servicewomen in Today’s Military”. This is the new book that features Bergan (Arsenault) Flannigan that was mentioned in the February 13, 2013 issue of the Free Press. You may visit or call the library (359-9421) to borrow or reserve the book. You can also reserve the book online at: http://www.cefls.org/.

This week we’ve been doing inventory. It’s been a while since an inventory was done here, and not since we were automated several years ago. So it’s quite a project. We’ve set up teams to pull and scan our collection of about 40,000 items. We’re looking forward to running the reports from our OPAC system, so we can find out what’s missing… we think.

Renee and Lynn tackle the Adult Fiction section. They’ve got a real system going!

Judy and Joy are almost done scanning the Easy Fiction section. Can you tell it’s Valentine’s Day?

Zumba classes @ your library!

A new Zumba class is starting at your library: February 11, 18, 25, and March 4 – Zumba classes will be held downstairs in the Community Room from 6-7 pm with Britni Casagrain! Contact Britni for more information.

Update: Zumba classes will continue at our library on Mondays from 6:00-7:00 pm for the foreseeable future!

Closing today at 1:00

We’re closing the library at 1:00 today because of the weather. We plan to open at 10:00 Saturday morning. It’s good to call before coming out: 359-9421.
